Investigation of the effect of nanomicrobubbles on p53 gene expression, induction of apoptosis and inhibition of breast cancer (4T1)

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the average age of the disease in Iran is lower than the global average. Nowadays, the use of nanoparticles has become one of the effective therapies for cancer treatment. The purpose of the present study is to use water containing nano-bubble oxygen with a concentration of 98% oxygen as a complementary therapeutic agent for the treatment of breast cancer in affected mice for the first time in Iran
Materials and Methods: BALB/c mice with invasive TNBC-4T1-induced cancer grafts were infected and then mice were fed in two groups of nano-oxygen and nano-air bubbles water for 14 days and Control group (normal water) were compared. Finally, p53 gene expression was compared in three groups using real-time PCR.
Results: Reduction in tumor size in the second week as well as ultimate tumor weight loss in mice fed with oxygen nanobubbles were observed in comparison with a control group and increased expression of p53 gene in the nano-oxygen group, possibly due to high concentrations of oxygen in the tissue Cancer was also obtained from the control group.
Conclusion: Oxygen nano bubble seems to play a positive role in increasing the expression of  p53 gene in comparison with nano-water and common water in inhibiting tumor growth.
